What does your baby wear to sleep at night?

I'm worried about dd overheating/getting to cold at night. I'm yet to purchase a grobag but have heard horror stories of babies overheating in them. Having said that though, she's kicking off blankets at night.

Tonight I have put her in a fleecy sleepsuit with a vest, and blanket over her. After checking the temp of the room it's saying 19degrees. Is this ok?

I'm trying to find the happy medium but I'm worrying constantly about her getting to hot and then becoming too cold...

How old is she? The key is layers.

I would stick to cotton sleepsuits as fleece doesn't allow the air to circulate as freely.

There is a guide for how many layers to wear, including a grobag, on their website gro.co.uk/what-to-wear/

My DS is 7 months and is wearing a sleeveless bodysuit, a sleepsuit and a 2.5tog sleeping bag. The room is 16-17 degrees.

Babies usually wake up and let you know if they are too chilly!

Forgot to add that the arms are free in a grobag and I've not heard any horror stories! I prefer them as my baby is a wriggler and would probably end up with blankets over his face which is more unsafe for us.

My DD is in a sleeveless vest, onesie and 2.5 tog sleeping bag (Asda, rather than grobag, as half the price). Room is a balmy 18.6 degrees.

My DTs are 10 months old and are wearing a short sleeve vest and sleepsuit. They have a blanket which they don’t sleep under, and hate grobags.

From what you’ve said your dd is sleeping in, it sounds fine to me, and if she was too hot or cold she’d wake to let you know Wink

11 mo ds has a long sleeve vest, long pjs and a 3.5 tog grobag. Room 16.5-17.5. Too many layers/too warm according to the grobag guides but he moans and wakes if in less and if the house is any warmer. He also has a big snuggly blanket he often covers himself with in the night too. He loves to be toasty but not sweaty! Took me ages to find the right combination for him but finally nailed it now

16c here, baby is in a long sleeved vest, onesie and 2.5tog sleeping bag. If it drops any lower overnight I'll add a light wool blanket.

Personally i use a grobag and adhere to their tog recommendations. At the moment his room is between 18-19C and he wears a long sleeve body suit and a 2.5 tog. He’s never had a problem with them and we have a 0.5 tog and 1 tog for warmer weather.

Personally, I would not use fleece onesies. The risk of overheating in them is far far worse. They are not breathable and if you add a vest and blanket into the mix that will be very hot! I have a pair of fleece pj bottoms which I can only lounge around in as If I go to bed with them on sweating in minutes. Likewise, my toddler has a fleece (footless) onesie for lounging in which I had to take him out of the other day after about an hour because he was burning up.

A vest a sleep suit and a gro bag 2.5 from Tesco , and a comfort blanket she likes

Spam88 · 19/12/2018 23:41

I wouldn't use fleece for sleeping.

Last winter, DD (then ~7 months) was in a short-sleeved best, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Room at 18.

Mumshappy · 19/12/2018 23:45

Room is 17 degrees. DS eight months is wearing a short sleeved vest baby grow and 2.5 tog gro bag

Stephisaur · 20/12/2018 10:34

DS is 1 week old

He sleeps in a short sleeved cotton vest, underneath a long sleeved sleepsuit.

He then has a blanket which we may or may not wrap him in, depending on how he feels.

Room temperature is 19C and he seems like a happy baby :)

13 month old has a gro bag and has done since she was a couple of months.

Love them as I can check the guide and follow that in terms of clothing! Tonight she's in a 2.5tog and a long sleeve vest as room is around 20 degrees

She does a full 360 in her cot overnight so this is a better options than blankets!!
