DD Is turning 8 months this month. Sh was breastfed for first 2 months (I don't know if this has something to do with it) she has always refused a dummy. I tried all brands but she spat them straight out. She sucked her thumb for a little while but stopped that soon after, but she is always looking for something to suck when she's going to sleep. But not a dummy! Sometimes she'll suck a muslin, sometimes a comforter, sometimes my t-shirt or sometimes my finger. But it's not constant suck... It's a sick, a bite, a lick, she'll do it for a couple of seconds and then wave the thing (whatever she's sucking) around and then back to her mouth for a few seconds, then waving again and this carries on till she sleeps. Sometimes she gets frustrated too. Why does she do this? What can I do to stop it? I don't want to try a dummy again. Like if I'm holding her from behind, she likes to go to sleep in spooning position, her head is on my arm and she's trying to lick my arm. It's really annoying because it's like this is stopping her from going to sleep easily?

ALSO she used to sleep til 7am. Now she is waking up at 5am. I've tried puttin her to bed earlier but it's not working. 5am seems to be her new time. Is this normal?
She had a cold 2 weeks ago but still has the snotty nose! I cant seem to get rid of it, ive tried calpol vapour plug, saline solution, baby olbus oil, karvol capsules. Shes still got a snotty nose! She eats loads of fruit and veg! Someone help me because I feel I'm about to lose my sanity as I'm finding it difficult to get to sleep at night so not getting enough sleep.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. My son also refused a dummy but always goes to bed with a Muslin to suck/scrunch/wave. He has had a constant runny nose for 4 weeks as he has just caught cold after cold so it never clears up.

The cold has effected his sleep too a he went from sleeping through to waking at 3 am and now has settled at a consistent 6:30 am wake up now he is recovering.

The big difference with us is that we don't cosleep. Have you considered moving baby to their own room?

Unfortunatley I can't put her in her own room as I'm staying with my mum to save money for my own place, which I can hopefully move out in a few month. I've contemplated sleeping on the sofa, but DD wakes at 12-1am to come into my bed. It's always been like this. First 2 months she wouldn't sleep anywhere apart from my chest, I've tried puttin her back into her cot but she just gets fidgety and wakes alot. So to make it easier for both of us I just brought her in with me when she wakes first time.
I'm glad she's not the only one with a snotty nose. I thought I was maybe doing something wrong. She's fine in herself, it's just the snotty nose and constantly having to clean it which is irritating her.
Hopefully it will get better soon, thanks for replying
