Sitting up during naps

Hi there everyone. I've not visited mumsnet for a few months as I've been too busy thoroughly enjoying my ds's development.

Anyway, he's now able to sit and stand and will more often than not sit up during his light sleep at nap time after lunch and will not settle. Today was the worst....he had only 30 mins sleep when he usually does 2 hours (ish).

I found him on his knees with his face on the matress and bawling for England!!!

How can I encourage him to settle again? I tried to lay him back down again on his front (as this is how we find him in the mornings now) but to no avail. Also tried a quick cuddle and back down again on his back...oh no! He wasn't having that at all!!!

Gave up after almost an hour and left him on his back crying. He only cried then for a couple of mins and then started chatting to himself. Typical!

Any clues?
