Is it time to cut naps?

2 year 4 month old has always struggled getting off to sleep, he self settles without us in the room, but can take him around an hour to nod off.

Recently though this has been taking him longer and longer, he's usually out the bath and being read a story for about 7/7.15, and we leave the room about 7.30 and he falls asleep about 8.30. This has been closer to 9.30 the last couple of weeks.

He used to get up at around 7 every morning, this has changed to between 4.30 - 5.30 now.

He has a nap for about 1 hour 20 in the afternoon, and we always make sure he's up by 2.30.

He goes to nursery 3 full days, and on the days he is at home, we always go out in the mornings and then do an activity at home in the afternoon.

Any suggestions for a very tired pregnant mum please.

I would normally say cutting the nap down would be a good idea, maybe to under an hour? But it can actually work the other way and he’s needing more sleep. I only say this because it sounds like you guys are very busy.

I would try cutting down the nap to less than an hour but also maybe try to have more downtime at home so he’s not super grumpy
