Any suggestions please? Hes waking solidly between 7 and 10pm (every 40min or so) but then stretches, waking uo between 3 and 5am and just wont go back down without a fight. I rock him for sometimes an hour but as soon as i lay him down he wakes screaming. When he is being rocked he twitches and squirms. Ive tried taking him to bed but its just the same. If i give up and get up for the day he is shattered.

I am up at 5.45am for work so I am struggling.

Any suggestions please??

What time does he go to bed? If he’s waking solidly between 7 and 10pm then perhaps his bedtime is too early?

We aim for 7 but usually its between 7 and 8pm. Hes waking for the day at 5.30am as thats when we go to work so i was airing on the side of overtired. I have been awake since 3.30am today as I spent over an hour getting him back down

Are you rocking him to sleep and then putting him down asleep? I have found ds has to go to sleep on his own, in his cot or he wakes if circumstances have changed ie no longer in my arms or even us no longer in the room. We have used controlled crying on a couple of occasions and although not nice while they are crying they very soon learn to self settle and its less crying in the long run if you were to add up all the unsettled nights. We've also gone down to one nap this week after an unsettled period and it appears to be helping.
