Sleeping and a dummy

Hello!
I have previously had problems with sleep as my DS had a mammoth 4 month sleep regression which he started at 3 months old and finally started to come out the other side at 5 months old. I tried absolutely everything possible to try and get him to sleep as he was waking constantly and I became very exhausted, so my last resort was CC. After a few nights of this, he began sleeping through again but after about a week of this he entered his next leap and started waking more frequently but this time it's been a few hours after going to bed and he will wake every half hour. This has resorted to me having next to no sleep for the past week and I am well and truly shattered. The only thing that has been settling him is putting his dummy in, but that has been about every half hour when he wakes and I cannot do it every night.
I'm not really quite sure how to break this 'habit', because I'm sure that's what it is! When he wakes in the night, do I let him cry? If I keep giving him his dummy I can see this becoming a very regular thing as it's happened about 4/5 nights in a row now and we've already been in twice since putting him to bed tonight. He knows if he wakes and whittles, we will be right to him with his dummy!
Any advice is gratefully welcomed Smile I just need to sleep!
