Hi.
My lo gors to bed at 7 and normally has about 3-4oz then doesn't finish 5oz bottle then has a dream feed about 11 then stirs generally about 2-2.30. Tgis is generally a grunting on and of noise. I go get a bottom and sometimes he stops grunting and sleeps till 3.30. When he has fed hes generally awake for day about 6.30-7 but doesn't feed till about half an hour or so after hes woken up. My question is how do i wean him off the middle feed? Surely the dream is suppose to see him through till morningish. Any experience of this and also when to stop dream feed would be great.
Thanks xx

He’s 3 months old! They’re not supposed to sleep through at this age as the waking up helps prevent SIDS. There’s also a 4 month sleep regression which plenty of babies go through, so even if you did manage to get him sleeping through it’s likely he’d go back to waking frequently anyway.

I know sleep deprivation is hard (dd is 22 months and a terrible sleeper!) but he’s still so tiny, you can’t force a baby to sleep longer than they want!

I don't think you can go into it with the mindset that a dreamfeed is "supposed to" make your baby sleep. They haven't read the manual. Dreamfeeds don't always work. I had one DC that slept 11-5 after a dream-feed and one that woke for a feed every 2 hours until 7 months!

You could try gradually reducing the amount you give at the 2am feed, eg by 1oz per night. Otherwise, I would accept they need a feed at that time and either give the dreamfeed earlier or not at all and get an early night.

I no hes only little. I guess i am trying to work out whether he would go till 2ish without a dream feed. Last night i gave him an 11pm feed where he just took about 3.5 ozs then he woke at 2.30ish and took 3-4oz and is now in bed grunting away! I dunno
