Leaky nappy waking baby - when to change

5mo ds usually goes down by 7pm until 6am but has recently started waking at 4am due to his nappy leaking and hes soaked right through..

He doesn't cry so at first it took me a while to realise what was wrong i started just stroking his head to try and get him back to sleep, but then realised how wet he was.

He's just moved up a size in nappy, we just use the Lidl or asda range.

I wondered if it would be worth changing him in his sleep but I would hate to wake him, or if there is a super absorbent nappy out there I don't know about which can cope with the volume he produces in the night?

We use pampers just for nighttime. We've also just gone up a nappy size and had the same damp issue!

I'm happy to use whatever nappies in the day, but pampers seem great at keeping the wee away and quickly too. Do the nappy up tight if it's still on the big side or drop back down to the smaller one. We've yoyo'd a bit with nappy sizes as there's some size overlap.

We had the same problem a few months ago with DS (now 10 months old). He's a tummy sleeper and the weight of all the wee at the front seemed to really undermine the nappy.

We switched to pull ups at night - Pampers no do pull ups in size 3 and up - which helped but didn't solve the problem so now we double up, his usual size 4 pull up with a size 5 on top to catch any overflow, making sure the 5 covers the edges of the 4 iyswim (pulled up higher on the waist and covering the size 4 around his legs).

We still occasionally have a leak but usually when he's be very wriggly whilst getting ready for bed and i've not got the 5 on straight. The outer size 5 nappy gets reused for a few nights if it stays dry.

If he is wearing a vest under his sleepsuit make sure it's not too snug as we found this caused a fairly full happy to leak at the sides.

We also use pampers just for nighttime, they do seem to absorb more.

Failing that I would change it when he's in his deepest sleep - so probably before midnight! Its hard but can be done, takes ages and don't use cold wipes!
