Insomnia at 3 months pp

I have never had insomnia but since baby turned 3 months it has gradually got worse. She is now 4 months and last night I didn’t sleep a wink. What’s so frustrating is that she sleeps really well waking for only one or two feeds a night. Either I can’t get off at all or I can’t sleep after feed. I’ve tried massage, lavender, baths etc. Anyone had a similar experience?

I had awful insomnia around a similar time pp to you! I found after 2/3 nights of finally getting some sleep, it went away! It’s just getting those 2/3 nights in..!

My solution was found by chance .. over the counter Benadryl. I was suffering from an allergy & I only had the old school drowsy Benadryl left. I took one & I was so sleepy all day! So I decided to try them at bedtime.. my partner agreed to do the night feeds over the weekend & I took one tablet an hour before bed and bam, slept for a good 8 hours both nights! I wasn’t so sleepy that I wasn’t disturbed by my little ones ‘im awake & hungry cry’ but I was able to roll over & dose straight back off! I wouldn’t recommend it long term but it was a great solution to resolving a temporary problem!

Yes. I have a 15 week old and have the same thing. He sleeps well. Feeds 10.30 then at 4ish but I can’t sleep. Partially anxiety as I feel like i ‘have’ to get to sleep between feeds. I lie there eyes shut not sleeping. The only things I find that help are listening to podcasts or sleep hypnosis on you tube until I sleep and exhausting myself during the day (walking like 10k) so I fall asleep. Neither of these strategies works all the time. Sooo annoying! People ask if the baby has kept me up and I have to say that no it’s my fault. I think it will get better once he goes through until 7 and once we get him out of our bedroom. 🤞

You aren't alone! I fall asleep ok when I first go to bed but then can't get back to sleep after night feeds. I was about to post something similar looking for advice so I'm afraid I don't have any solutions, just lots of sympathy!
