Time to move to one nap?

Hi my daughter is almost 1 year old and is currently having 2 naps a day. She wakes at 6am. Naps at 10am for 40-60mins and naps again at 3pm. This nap used to also be around an hour. But for the last few days her 3pm nap has been two hours long which is pushing back her 7pm bedtime. I don’t want it too far back as we have to get up at 6 for work. What do people suggest? I know shes on the young side for dropping to one nap. Also she goes to the childminder twice a week where she naps very poorly. Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn’t say it’s too early. The average to drop to one nap is anywhere from 15 to 18 months however they are all different. My DS dropped to one nap abruptly on his first birthday. Only time he had 2 naps now is if he are out for the day. He can’t resist dropping off in the car, but he doesn’t sleep for long. If she’s getting up at 6ish I’d try, a big snack about about 10/10.30 and aim for nap at 11 to begin with. If it works out then it will gradually move later over time.

We were the other way round, decided DD was dropping to one nap when it got more and more difficult (and later) getting her down for her afternoon nap. She was only 10 months so quite early but she went into a routine of having a 2 hour nap over lunchtime really well.

I've been thinking the same. PP for the last two weeks mine has really fought the second nap. It was always a short one anyway but now it's near impossible.

Thing is she is rubbing eyes when I try? And also, she seems ready still for her morning nap 2-3 hours after waking up, and goes down for 1.15 hours... so shoukd I delay it (again she rubs her eyes for this one too!).

To complicate it further, she's a pretty alert baby and has only been at nursery for 4 weeks... She only catnaps there (she only goes 11-4 So has a morning nap at home. She had refused her nap at home one day but only slept 2 x 30 mins at nursery. She is a light sleeper so I don't see her sleeping for 1-2 hours there if on one nap!

She's also 10 months could her crap napping be more to do with starting nursery than nap transitions.

She's never been a great napper though. Won't sleep for longer than 45 mins in car or pram. Wakes at drop of pin at home in cit...
