My dd is 14 months. She's still breastfed (and i intend to go til 24 months if i can, as she has allergies). Until recently she's always fed to sleep but has started to outgrow that and I struggle to get her to settle in her cot after the feed. It can take a really long time, even if she's very tired, with lots of back rubbing and singing.
We do dinner, bath and PJs (takes a while as she has an eczema emollient routine), quiet play, book, feed then bed (and she does still sometimes feed to sleep). I currently feed in her room, in the dark, with her in her sleeping bag already.
I'm wondering if I should change the end of the routine so that she has the feed, then we go into her room, put her into the sleeping bag and try to read a story while she's in the cot. Tempted to try it butit could just make things worse.
To compound matters my dh works shifts so i usually do bedtime myself and have to start cooking adult dinner when she's asleep - so there's noone to share it with and it can drive me insane how long she can take to settle even when she really needs to sleeo.
Any thoughts/experiences?
