Sleeping thought, hungry baby.

My little girl is almost 9 months now and self settles goes to sleep well at night. We have a routine. She'll have a proper meal with oth us at around 6, have a bath and put to bed around half seven. We'll then dream feed her at 10 and she will wake up hungry every time around 3/4 in the morning. We give her an 8oz bottle and she goes right back to sleep. I don't understand how she can still be hungry enough not to sleep through? Any tips would be so helpful.

If she's on 3 meals a day and drinking milk during day it won't be hunger. It will probably be for comfort. If ds went back to sleep after cuddles/co sleep i knew he could sleep without milk and that he wanted me.

Id stop the 3am bottle.

How much milk does she have in the day OP?

Elsabell · 26/10/2018 10:28

She has 4 8oz bottles between meals.

What is her food intake like? What would she have on a typical day?

Put baby rice in the dream feed bottle! Worked wonders for us, though if he's eaten less during the day then likely to wake for a bottle. Snacks between meals instead of milk, eg oatcakes, cheese and fruit, or yoghurt and breadsticks etc?

PS She is still a bit person, so if she wants milk during the night give her it, especially if it's only once, and especially if she's taking a good amount and not just one or two ounces to get back to sleep.

I'd say comfort too instead of hunger.
