2.5 Tot Not Wanting To Sleep

We have been blessed with a fairly good sleeper. Up until now our DS has been happy to be popped in his cot at 7pm with a bottle of milk. He would even say Door to tell us to get out!

This has changed overnight. Bottle gets thrown before having any milk, leg is almost up over the height of the cot and tears and shouting of Help Help! His usual love of baths has also disappeared. I'm thinking this is something to do with exerting his independence, the problem is I'm not sure how to hand it.

If I crack and go in he will go mental until I lift him up and then he's almost laughing demanding books and Peppa. My DH thinks we should ignore him no matter how long he goes on for. I am waiting 20 odd minutes. DH finds it annoying, I find it heart-wrenching.

Any tips how best to handle this sudden change. He still has a one-hour nap each day, although sometimes quite a bit longer on his two nursery days.

Thanks

Perhaps he needs to drop the nap and he's not tired enough to sleep? My son is the same age and has started sleeping badly. He is really frightened of the dark and wants me to stay in his room all the time. He's started waking up at night too ..very tired
