Hi,

My baby is 3 months old and usually gets up twice I give him a bottle he goes back to sleep sometimes needs rocking etc. But on a good night this might only be once. We have just started putting him in a travel cot ( he's getting a bit big for moses basket and we are visiting family soon so wanted to trial at home first). He's now waking every 2/3 hours how do i know if he's hungry or just awake and can't get back to sleep?

As the moses basket is smaller he probably feels more secure in it so sleeps better. That's the theory behind sleep heads. Alternatively, he might be going through the four month sleep regression early.

If he's waking, I would probably try him with a bottle just to eliminate it, if he doesn't want it he will soon tell you. I have a 4 month old and he has been waking throughout the night for 5 weeks (used to sleep all night!) I now feed him when he wakes and he settles off for a few hours. He usually has 2 feeds in the night now. If he goes to sleep when you first put him in there with no problems, I wouldn't have thought it would be the travel cot that's the problem (only my opinion, could be wrong). I would say he's probably just going through a waking 'phase'. Hang in there, you're not alone!
