Daughter won't settle in own room

Hi, just looking for some advice. My daughter is 2 in December. She used to be great in her own room but we had to change her cot into a bed as she kept climbing out of it. She then had a few nights in our bed (nightmare) and now she won't settle in her room. We have bought her peppa bedding which has helped and she goes to sleep in there with one of us with her. But she sleeps a couple of hours max and when she realises we aren't there she screams. So we take her back in and stay with her but she wants hugs and to hold hands so she has that touch. The minute she falls asleep and we go to leave she's up again. Any advice would be appreciated as we are absolutely shattered !! Thanks

Could you put a mattress or air bed on the floor in your room for her so she's near/next to you but not in your bed? Not a perfect solution but you may all get more sleep.
