2 week old straining and crying in pain all day and night

My son is 2 weeks old and has not settled since we brought him home the day after he was born. The issue seems to be passing stools. He only manages to do a dirty nappy about every 4 days and only after days of pain and struggle. We have tried everything - he's formula fed and we have tried normal cow and gate, comfort and anti reflux, infacol, cooled boiled water, diluted prune juice, massage, bicycle legs, raising his cot at one end. Nothing is working. He isn't sleeping at nights because it's worse then and needs to be held all night. As soon as I try to put him down on his back he starts crying again and moving his legs up in pain. I'm honestly at my wits end with lack of sleep and seeing him pain and nothing working. Can anyone recommend anything we haven't tried?

I think you’ve tried so much - have you discussed it with HV or GP? He may need lactulose.... my DS needed a suppository, this did the trick. Would you be willing to change formula? HiPP Organic is really gentle and I would definitely recommend this. However, I do think you need medical advise too. Good luck xx

Went to the GP today and they prescribed lactulose. Said it could take 48 hrs to work so will just have to wait and see if that helps. If that doesn't work, next steps are to try dairy free milk
