Swaddling/moro?

I've posted this on the development board, but thought I'd post here as well

dd1 is 3 months old and a crap sleeper. she is also obsessed with her hands, and still has a really strong moro reflex. waving/jolting her hands always snatches her from the brink of sleep back into wakefulness, and she then ends up overtired. as such, I'm swaddling her in a cotton sheet to sleep. I know that most people stop swaddling around this age - are there safety reasons why I should do so? Also, when does the moro reflex subside? thanks all

for some babies it doesn't subside till 6 mos i have read. you can keep swaddling her for as long as you like. i stopped swaddling dd around 8 months as she had really bad eczema and it kept her from scratching.

DD was swaddled until 4.5 months as her moro reflex didn't go away. I think some cultures swaddle for much longer so I don't think there is need to worry.

I kept DS swaddled for about 5 months I think - he had a very strong moro reflex which woke him up all the time.
