Bed clothes/sheets/grobags- how on earth do you decide?

Ds (22m) has slept in a grobag from 5m and there was always the dilemmna of what to put on him under it. But last night was just too hot for it so it has gone forever. He usually wore a short sleeved body vest, and long sleeved/legged pyjamas. For the last month though it was short pjs, and since no grobag, no bodyvest. But he's too young to kick off the covers if he does get too hot, and sure as hell is too young to grab them if he gets too cold. He's quite a wriggler and covers/blankets end up all over the place.

We live in NW Scotland and yes it does get cold in the winter, but damn hot in the summer too. Our house is new, so well insulated but the temp does drop at nights like everywhere else.

Tonight he has a celular blanket (not doubled) over him and when I go to bed I'll probably.

How do you decide what to put on your children at night? I'm sure I've made this sound like a bigger deal than it is but I'm really interested in your opinions.

Co-sleep, it's easier

I dont think he's too young to get the covers off if hes too hot, he'll wriggle them off automatically. Same probs here in South of Spain!, just ditched the DDs grobags this week too. Baby now in pillowcase wearing short-sleeved babygrow! DD1 in nightdress with empty duvet cover over her... you just have to keep fine-tuning it. PJs and socks?
