Daytime naps on me only!

My 13 week old sleeps beautifully at night in his own crib 22.00-0700 and has done since he was just over 8 weeks. However, during the day he sleeps upright on my chest. He'll sleep for an hour or so after his 07.00 bottle if I bring him into bed with me.

He can't sleep in his pram bassinet as he likes to stretch his arms out and doesn't have the room to do so. Occasionally he'll sleep on the floor ( on multiple blankets so not too hard)

I put him down just asleep this morning and he cried then started beaming at me when I went over 🙄

Part of me doesn't mind because I love the snuggles but I know eventually he'll need to be able to settle himself so I can get things done. I know he's far too young for any type of crying it out and to be honest I couldn't do it anyway. Any ideas?

With my two I found a lot of it was my body warmth and as soon as they were put down in a cold crib/blanket/whatever they would wake up. So I started putting a warm hot water bottle in where they were sleeping just before nap time. Warmed it up enough that they didn't notice the transition.

Hiya,
I am no expert as my nearly 12 month old still wakes 4-5 times a night! But I think that if your little one is sleeping 2200-0700 without any interventions then it is likely they are self settling during that period? I agree those cuddles are lovely, so as long as he sleeps well at night and you try and get it so some of those daytime naps are by himself then that is what I would do.
Sorry as I said I am not a good example, but it sucks when no one replies to your posts!

Watching with interest as my 16 week old is currently asleep on me and I really need a wee but I know as soon as I put her down she will wake up! At night she sleeps in her Moses basket but during the day she only naps for short periods (10 mins) if not on me. I’ve got a 3 year old so there’s not much daytime napping!

I totally agree with Soloula. It's body heat. Perfect temperature for them. If he is sleeping 10-7am then he can self settle. It is unlikely a baby wouldn't rouse in that period. Lucky you! Enjoy the cuddling.

That's all, to be I think part of the reason I asked is because of all the comments about making a rod for my own back and how he shouldn't sleep on me, but although sometimes it would be nice to be able to go for a wee before he wakes up (pp I feel your pain!) it's working for us at the moment.

@meow1989 We're the same, though DC 6 months wakes once a night for feed. I'm dreading my return to work, as will have to work on getting them to nap in their cot. 😢
