5am awakenings

My LO is 6 weeks old and I can’t break the cycle of her awakening at 5am for a feed then she’ll wake again at 6am as I think she thinks it’s time to get up then which throws off the routine for the day as she won’t take a full feed at 7am. She’s not one to be swayed back to sleep or given a dummy she’s too clever 😫

Any tips how to reverse this, she also shouldn’t really be hungry at 5 as she’s had a full feed at 3am but will always cry until given the feed

Just go with the flow. 6 week’s is a bit of a milestone, it’ll probably change again at 12 weeks. Or you’ll get it sorted, she’ll get a cold and it’ll all go tits up.

Give her another 6 weeks before trying to change things is my advice.

At 6 weeks is more than possible that she’s hungry after 2 hours. Their tummy is tiny and there is a lot of growth spurts in the first weeks. Are you formula or breastfeeding?

I really wouldn’t worry about routine in a newborn. Feed on demand

Hi thanks, I’m formula feeding

So when you mean it throws of the routine for the day are you trying to get her into a 3/4hour feeding type thing?

I would just feed on demand, formula or breast, especially at that age. I wouldn’t worry about timings/routine at 6 weeks.
