Hi everyone would like so advice
My little boy is 1 and he’s now he his own room, we have a good bedtime routine and he can self settle when he is put to bed.

The only problem is he wakes for milk 3 times a night and I have tried not giving him milk but he screams and screams until he works in self up and I give in and breastfeed him. When I feed him I put him down awake as he doesn’t fall asleep on the boob and I leave the room, abs he settles himself back to sleep. So I’m thinking is hungry?
He doesn’t just have a little feed he has a massive feed around 10mins each time, could this still be comfort waking or hungry?
Some advice please x

A 1 year old feeding overnight is really normal. It probably a mixture of hunger and comfort.

Sounds hungry. DD was the same and can now eat an entire pizza at one sitting at 7 and is skinny as a whippet. She runs hot. She didn't sleep through until 2. Sorry.

Hi op, I have a newborn so not at this stage myself yet. But I have lots of friends who've had the same problem, I've heard this one piece of advice a few times . Why not trying mixing some of your milk with a bit of baby rice or weetabix, something gentle that will stay in his tummy for longer and stop him from feeling hungry as fast? Give this to him just before bedtime. Like I say haven't done it myself but know lots of people who have. Hope you find something that works for you x

Nothing useful to add sorry bit just wanted say I have one of the same model. Keeps waking for milk, no matter how much she eats. She has no other comforter so think the bottle of milk is it. Nothing you can do really, they'll grow out of it, eventually, hopefully.....

Dd woke for milk at 3am until she was 18 months. It's pretty normal

I have a 16 month old who also wakes during the night, however he was having his tea at 4pm and going to bed by 7/8pm - we introduced supper about 6.30 and he often sleeps much better. Still wakes some nights but is now awake for minutes having a quick drink rather than hours having a feed :)

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 16/09/2018 06:29

It’s normal! If you think about it, many adults wake and want a drink in the night. Babies are no different!

I would give the last meal just before bed. DS2 still has that at 7, so he's in pyjamas, having dinner, then bed during the weekend. During the week we have dinner at 4.30 because they're always hungry when they come out of school.

Thanks for your message! I give him his dinner at 7.30 and he has a bath after and is asleep before 8.30.. The first part of the night is the longer he will sleeps.. around 4/5 hours and then he wakes up more often as the night goes on! I’m glad it’s normal them just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong 😬 I’m use to the broken sleep now lol x
