3 month old waking all through night

My DS had just begun sleeping from 11.30 to 5 or 6am when he came down with bronchiolitis then two more colds. This meant lots of sleepless nights for both of us. Now better, his nights are still v bad as from 1am he is thrashing about and crying with a trapped, burp, wind or poo. Once I've winded him successfully he goes back to sleep for about 30 mins and it starts over again. Before being ill he only had tummy troubles in the daytime. He also has something that sounds like phlegm in his throat which he can't clear without being upright.

I've tried bfing him but apart from a tiny snack at about 4am he's not interested until 6ish. So I don't think it's hunger.

In the day apart from tummy twinges after feeding he is a bouncing contented baby, but I am on the verge of collapse thru lack of sleep!

DD was happily sleeping through by this stage so I have no past experience to go on and would really appreciate any thoughts. Thanks a lot.

I've no idea why things might have changed, but have you tried propping up the head end of his cot with a couple of books? It may help him breathe if he's still having problems after the bronchiolitis and might help him burp without waking you up!

Thanks for the tip! His breathing has improved with a raised mattress, but his burps etc are so embedded in him I still have to to wind him each time through the night. Sleep reserves at all time low...
