hi!
just wanted to share something with you all...DS slept ok, then started waking up every hour or two hours a few weeks ago, I kept making excuses for him like it might be teeth etc etc...BUT...I finally figured out that it coincided to him starting RUSKS! I am pretty sure the sugar in them made him hyper! have since cut out any food with sugar in it and what a difference...

it's worth a try for anyone out there...

now he is going to bed at 7pm/7.30pm, waking up for final feed at 9pm ish and maybe waking once or twice for his dummy and sleeping til 7am. Believe me, this is a MASSIVE improvement!!! I was only getting 2 or 3 hours sleep for the last month preivously.

anyway...hope this helps........!

You can buy sugar free rusks tho, I presume ... my kids are older but I'm sure I brought sugar free ones for my kids when they were small.

Sorry, I don't know what happened there.

There was a programme on recently which showed that actually suger doesn't make children hyper, it only their parents think that it does.

They sent children whose parents say they get hyper on suger to a party. The parents were shown the party food which was all high suger items. The children were then fed very healthy low suger foods but there were lots of stimulation etc
The parents afterwards said their children all had suger highs.

The next week the same children were sent to a party , parents shown lots of healthy food but children fed high suger foods and coke etc.
Parents claimed afterwards children were pretty calm after the party

there is no such thing as a sugar free rusk - reduced sugar maybe (still around 20% sugar) but NOT sugar free - unless you make your own.

p.s. even the organix ones which say 'no added sugar' contain 21% sugars as they use fruit juice to sweeten them
