2 year old & 3 month old routine

I have a just-turned 2 year old and a just-turned 3 month old.

2 year old generally gets up at 7:30am, naps 1-3pm or 12-2pm and goes to bed at 8pm. He will go to sleep at 7pm if he hasn't napped or had a super short nap but at the moment I need a break in the day so will keep the nap until he starts to refuse it!

3 month old evening/nighttime sleep is a bit all over the place at the moment but generally we have one or two wake ups for feeds. She is a good daytime napper but as she gets older I'd like to get her into more of a routine.

At the moment we do baths on alternate nights, bung them both in together then my husband and I take one each. 2 year old still has (and loves) milk before bed. If my husband is working late or away this is where it gets chaotic as one or both of them ends up being left alone for a bit and gets upset.

During the day I try to get them both to nap at the same time and this is usually successful however the 3 month old sometimes has a 3 hour afternoon nap which I think may be too long?

What do other people with toddlers and young babies do? How do you manage bath/bedtime?

I think it’s tricky! I have a 3 year old DD and a nearly 4 month old DS, and we’re trying to align as much routine in the evenings as we can, so they can be together as much as possible. They have a bath together around 6.45pm, then the ideal would be to then have stories at the same time, big one in bed then off to feed the baby and get him into bed. So I’m trying to tank up the baby before bath so he’ll be reasonably amenable. It’s easier said than done though, and he often gets plonked down whilst I wrestle with the toddler.

As for the daytime, we’ve just dropped DD’s nap to bring her bedtime back earlier, and DS has no routine at all!
