Dropping naps!

My lg is 9 months old and still generally has 3 naps. I think we should have dropped one by now but I'm finding it hard to do.

She is usually awake by about 6am or just after and wants to take her first nap sometimes only an hour/hour and a half later so would be too much to ask for only one more nap in the day.

Any advice on the best way round this to get us to 2 naps? I feel by the time we get there we should be then moving to just one nap a day ConfusedSmile

There is no should for naps, only what works for your baby!

If she is awake so early and needs her first one so soon, she clearly needs those three

I was thinking that too but you read so much about what they 'should' be doing at certain ages. Her routine works well for her and she sleeps straight through at night so I'm not too worried. I suppose as she gets bigger and her awake times are longer she will naturally drop naps herself.

So much to worry yourself about especially as a FTM! Confused

If she’s going to drop a nap, and she will at some point even if she’s not ready yet (I also agree she’ll do it when she’s ready) then it will most likely be the last one of the day. My DD had a morning nap about 2 hours after waking until she was 15 months and she only really dropped it because she moved into the toddler classroom at daycare where they only do the one nap after lunch. You will likely find your DD just stops wanting to go down for her 3rd nap without you really doing anything. First few days she might be a bit stroppy and may need an early bed time but she’ll adjust and you’ll probably find the 2nd nap becomes longer to compensate. Don’t overthink it though!

Yeah, mine should have more than the one nap he needs at 14 mo (and has been down to since 10 mo) and shouldn't need night feeds.

I've given up with reading anything now....
