help/advice needed re sleep during the day

my dd used to go down so peacfully during the day, she is 20 months. For the last couple of weeks it has become a battle. She wakes up aroung 7 to 8 and is normally ready to go down around 11. She shows all the signs, but she has started to really protest, taking up to 40 mins to get her off and having to go in several times.

I don't know whether she is telling me she needs to have her sleep moved to the afternoon or not. I am afraid to move her sleep if thats no the case or is she just protesting because she can

Please help as this is draining me

At that age DD was waking 7am latest and wasn't napping until after lunch, so 12.30 or 1pm, for a couple of hours. That was her only nap of the day.

When she started protesting for 45mins at 27mths she virtually gave up her afternoon nap!

Yes, I would Most children of that age that I know nap after lunch.

If you're worried about making a big quantum change, how about moving it back by, say, half and hour each day?

Good luck

madame, I would make the nap later too. At that age, DS1 wsa having 1 nap a day, after lunch, around 12-2/1-3. He also gave up his nap altogether at about 29 months (just when DS2 was 6 weeks old - nightmare!!!).

Try it tomorrow!

Thanks everyone, I will give it go and the idea of moving half an hour each day sounds like a good idea.
