How to stop (bottle) feeding 18 mo to sleep

My 18 mo feeds (with a bottle of cow's milk) to sleep both for his nap & bedtime. I worry about his teeth (we brush before he has his bottle; routine is: bath, teeth, stories, grobag, bottle, bed) & also that he should learn to self-settle? Also, he has so much milk right before bed that he sometimes wakes wet (I think the nappy just gets too heavy!) & I think moving the bottle earlier into the routine might help. Has anyone got any ideas or experience of how to do this?

Introduce a cup of milk before teeth. Perhaps one story with milk and one after teeth then gradually reduce the bottle.

For DD1 we just went cold turkey when she was unwell (she was sick so had to avoid dairy for a couple of days) and stayed with it.

With DD2, we ensured she was really tired and took about the bedtime bottle but did the rest of her evening routine the same. For a few nights it took her a little while to settle but she didn’t cry and then seemed to forget about it. Her bedtime bottle was the last one to go.

Thank you! So when would you do the bath in this routine?

I’d keep the rest of the routine the same.

Good luck. It can take a few days for a change in routine to be accepted.
