21 month old won't stay in bed at nap and bed time

Help. About 2-3 months ago we took the side off of our DD's cot bed as it doubles into a toddler bed. Ever since we did and DD realised she can climb out of bed, nap times and bed times have become a nightmare routine of putting her to bed, closing her door over, her climbing out of bed, being marched back to bed, etc, etc.

We have tried everything, we think, from the silent treatment to taking her favourite bunny off her until she falls asleep. This can go on for quite some time.

Any advice would be great and very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Sorry I can’t help, but I’m watching this with interest as DD2 is 21mo and exactly the same. She climbs out of bed, turns the light on and leaves the room or starts fetching books to read Angry. I’m starting to lose my patience!

Could you put the side back in and explain they can have it off again when they stay in bed?
