So I have a 10 month old in 6 days. He puts up a fight every night to go to bed. He never sleeps through the night and we've had to reintroduce a bottle during the night again.

From a couple weeks and Up till 5 months he slept through the night without the bottle during the night so I feel like we're going backwards.

We spoke to the public health nurse this morning and she advised us to bring his bedtime forward as it has been 9/9.30 and that he was probably overtired and i was missing the window. So tonight I started bed time routine at 7.30 brought him up to the room, put into pj's and fresh nappy and then I could tell he was sleepy so I gave him his 9oz bottle and he fell asleep drinking just about 2 oz. he woke 2 hours later at 10pm so I gave him the rest of the bottle and he dozed for 5 minutes and then woke super hyper.

So It's now 11pm I have a super hyper baby who wants to play and we both have work in the morning.

The health nurse said baby wasn't getting enough sleep as he'd only get 7 hours a night max! I just don't know how to make him sleep any longer. He naps 2.5 hours during the day sometimes in 2 naps, sometimes in 1. We try to not let him nap after 4pm.

He takes 4 7oz bottles during the day with a wheetabix for breakfast and then has a lunch too. Normally we would give liga and milk before the last bottle. NOTHING has made any difference to his sleep.

Really reluctant to do the cry it out method. I've done it once and he got himself in such a state I just don't know how that could be he right thing to do.

Any advice whatsoever is really greatly appreciated.

There's a sleep regression at 8-10 mo as there is a lot going on developmentally at that age.

Baby sleep doesn't just improve and frankly, if this nurse is saying so, she needs retraining

Defo get a sleep consultant. We used sleepnannies.co.uk (no connection to them) but there are loads of good ones about - go by word of mouth recommendation. It was £35 for a 45 min telephone consultation and the best money we ever spent. Improved massively from night 1 and we didn't end up having to do controlled crying either. 👍🏼

Baby sleep goes up and down, there is nothing wrong with your baby. It is the sleep regression and this nurse is very old fashioned and talking nonsense.
