Hi everyone,
Just looking for some advice or even just some solidarity as no sleep for a year can be quite the lonely experience!
My son turned 1 last weekend and hasn’t been a great sleeper from birth. I breastfed until he was around 8 months old and we had no problems going onto formula. He also really likes his food. He’s in bed (in his own room) for around 7 and we have the same routine every night. Most of the time he goes down quite well but sometimes it’s a challenge, and he needs milk to settle him every night. His first wake up is around 10 and then on a good night he will wake up 2 more times but on a bad night we could be up every 2 hours until around 6:30 when he wants to get up for the day.
Every time he wakes up he needs milk in order to fall back to sleep. I really don’t want to resort to the controlled crying method as I know it would break me but I don’t know what else to do as now he can stand as soon as you put him in his cot he’s up! He acts the same whether it’s me or my husband going in to him.
He’s never been a great napper either and it’s an effort to get him to go down during the day. This too needs milk but we aren’t always successful.
Sorry for the long first post but we are verging on zombies after a year of very little sleep!
Thank you
