Help! At wits end with 2 year old

My 2 (nearly two and a half year old) will not go to sleep unless you lie in bed with him or stay in the room with him. If you leave him alone he just looses it and screams the house down for a good 40 minutes. Help!

Why can’t you stay with him till he falls asleep?

I sit with my nearly 2 year old until he falls asleep, don’t think it’s unusual. I generally do what jobs I can on my phone in the dark!
