6 weeks won’t nap

I have a 6 week old baby who I just can’t settle during the day unless he is in the pram. I try to put him down when I see signs of tiredness. I do exactly the same things I do at night but during the day he just won’t have it. I try to comfort him by rocking him, give him the dummy for s while to settle ghim and put him down. He will doze off just to wake up 15 mins later. I generally have to start the whole process again. Sometimes it takes so long he wants a nappy change or feed before I can actually get him to sleep. If he is totally exhausted he will conk out. But generally he won’t and ends up overtired and screaming. He hates being swaddled and the only position he settles on me is on my shoulder which is getting to sore to handle much longer. I am lucky that he settles reasonably well at night but the days are hellish. I can take him out for a walk for every sleep and even if I do do that he will end up sleeping most of the day and not st night. Help!

Read up on the 4th trimester. Babies that age want to be held, rocked and to hear your heartbeat.

When my son was tiny I just wore him around the house in a sling. Being hands free was a big plus! I had a stretchy wrap but didn’t like it - no matter what I did, gravity would bring him lower and lower. Then I tried a Connecta which was perfect. I did worry as he got older and heavier that he’d never nap anywhere else, but he eventually transitioned to his cot for naps.

Get a sling and keep him close to you.
