15 month old waking during night

DS usually sleeps through but has been waking once or twice during the night for the last few weeks.
I'm pretty sure he's teething as it's what normally happens and disrupts his good sleeping previously.
He cries out then sits up and we have to go in a lay him back down, if we walk away too soon he will sit back up and cry again.
I'm just worried he's waking to play up and I'm worried about creating bad habits as he's always been such a good boy.
Should I just go with it until it passes? Or should I nip it in the bud before it becomes a sleep association habit? I'm torn between going to him when he needs me as I'm
His mummy and he needs comforting at moment, and leaving him to cry and try some sleep training (and inadvertently make a problem out of something that's not a problem if you get me🙈)
Thanks ☺️

It's only a problem to cuddle your child if you want it to be

Baby and toddler sleep isn’t linear. They go through massive development and it disrupts sleep.

Should I just go with it until it passes?

Yes.

Or should I nip it in the bud before it becomes a sleep association habit?

Don’t punish your child for normal night waking!
