15 Month Old crying out in sleep

My DS has been crying out in his sleep during the night once or twice for the last few weeks. He is asleep, then his eyes will scrunch up and he will wince and then cry out and sometimes roll over and stay asleep but other times he will sit up half asleep and cry.
He has always done this on and off when ever he has a new tooth coming through. He has suffered a lot with teething and he only has the 4 back molars left to come through.
I've always put the crying out down to teething pain in the night, as it's like a pain catches him when he's in a light sleep (maybe coming out of a sleep cycle) and then that makes him aware of the pain and cry out sometimes waking him up.
Does anyone else's LO do this?

Hi OP, my daughter does this, started around the same time too, she's just turned 2 and it's happening again, back molars coming in. We tried calpol before bed and it's not helped so guess we need to just ride it out :-(

Thanks for the reply ☺️
I'm pretty certain it's teeth but I was starting to get concerned he was waking after a sleep cycle 🤨 But then he would surely do it after every sleep cycle and not just one or two and it seems to be also when he is in a lighter sleep so makes sense that the pain of teething would wake them up.
Let's hope it passes for us soon 😦

My DS does this. Always has done the occasion cry out in his sleep. 9/10 he rolls back over and settles himself again but last night we had to go to him for the first time in months. He is also cutting his back teeth 😭

Better night last night, one whimper at 5:30am then woke nicely at 7:20am, no crying on waking :-)
Hoping your babies are feeling better

That's brilliant! We had a cry out at 5am and then awake at 6.30am. Seems like they cry out around 4/5am I'm thinking because they are in a lighter sleep?! X
