We will be TTC soon.. I’m not sleeping well at the moment because of health reasons and I feel like shit everyday. But at least I can go to bed when I like and wake up when I choose.
HOW DO YOU DO IT?
Lack of sleep is really putting me off x

It's hard. You do adjust though. Will you have support if health continues to be an issue?

aperolspritzplease · 03/08/2018 14:25

You manage because you have to, there is no choice. If you have health issues will you be able to put support in place?

Kate8989 · 03/08/2018 14:32

Sorry I was a bit vague when I said health issues. I’ve just had an op for endometriosis and subsequently on injections to bring on a temporary (I hope) early menopause. My hormones are shot to pieces so getting all the usual menopausal symptoms (ie. knackered but can’t sleep, hot flushes, etc)...
I’ve always be a 8-10 hour a night girl. I think that’s working against me. X

Ime learning to cat nap during pregnancy is the key!!
I went back to work (6-11pm) when ds was 6 months, at 4.30pm I could sit in the chair and sleep for an hour and feel like I had been in bed the whole night!
Took practice but managed!!
He slept all night but wasn't pfb - took many to get a sleeper!!
In fact why not try it pre ttc??

I worry I’ve had a pretty easy time of it and that will be my down fall lol. Never had a strenuous/stressful job. Pretty normal hours... lead a boring life.. not one for partying or staying up late.... whooops should have been a wild child x

Every baby is different remember!! I have had a few awful sleepers, but also a few who slept through from 5 weeks old!
Never did anything different, just pot luck!
Maybe yours will have your love of the sloth life!

DS has only ever woke once in the night until ages 4 weeks then slept from 9-5 now it's 8-6. Don't worry about it until it happens x

@Aprilshowersinjuly I feel a bit silly moaning about lack of sleep when I haven’t even got children. I guess you do just get used to it.. I have a lot of time on my hands at the moment to think about how rubbish I feel and worry about lack of sleep xx

You adjust and also your hormones help you through. My 18 month was always a frequent waker and now she sleeps better, u don’t Grin I need much less sleep than I used to, I used to be a gibbering mess if I had less than 8 hours, I now survive quite easily on 5.
