Next to me crib

Has anyone got any experience with the Chico Next To Me crib?
We have one and our DD sleeps well in it.
She is 9 weeks old and I am no longer breastfeeding.
My husband keeps saying it's time to put the side up and make it into a stand alone cot by the bed, as the only reason we have the side down was to breastfeed easier.
DD sleeps most of the night now, so there's not much reason for me to intervene at night.
Does anyone know of any particular benefits of having the side down and attached to the bed for longer?

I just found it comforting and I think she did too. We used a dummy so was easy to intervene before a meltdown happened. Why is he so keen to put it up?

I just like looking at her! If you want it up, do so as it won’t do any harm.

Tbh i really don’t think it matters. I think with the side down, it means she’s closer to you and if you need to it’s easier to get to her if for any reason you need to. However, I don’t think it would matter in the grande scheme if you put the side up

I only put the side up once baby started rolling over at 4 ish months. Was easier to put his dummy back in if necessary with the side down. Plus like pp I just like looking at him and feeling close to him

@LilyCat43 we have to move it to his side of the bed as I'm worried about a draft from window going on baby when weather is cooler - think he is worried about having it open next to him as he is quite fidgety in his sleep!

We had one for our DD and had the side down until about 5months. She’s bottle fed, we are the same as @LilyCat43

My 18 month old still uses it! She feeds then rolls into it herself. I put cushions all around the base incase of accidents and if she makes the slightest sound I wake up. I wish I'd had one for my first. Best investment ever

loveablether I love that "she feeds and then rolls into it herself". Classic! Grin
OP we have the side down and plan on leaving it down until we move her to own room. Its handy for pacifier, settling etc. Could you move to his side of the bed instead?
