Bedtime routine for 1 year old

I'm looking to tweak my son's bedtime routine as I am not sure that we are doing it right. In particular I would like to know what others did in terms of putting them in the cot asleep or drowsy.

At the moment we are doing:
5pm meal
5.45 bath
6.15 story and milk
6.30 cuddle to sleep and put down in cot asleep

Sometimes he is very quick to fall asleep which is fine, but other times he is quite fidgety and just wants to wrestle rather than cuddle really!

We also have to repeat this if he wakes for a night feed which is around 50% of the time, more at the moment but I think (hope!) that that is teething related. He used to go straight back down after feeds but increasingly often he is quite awake now, which at 3am is not fun!

I'd like to get to a point where I can put him in the cot drowsy and him not scream blue murder. If I was to try this now, he would just stand or sit up and cry his eyes out.

He can self settle sometimes i.e when we hear him wake in the night we give him 2-3 minutes of grizzling before making the bottle as he will sometimes just go back to sleep.

What were/are your bedtimes routines at this age?

DS has just turned 14 months old but this has been on routine for agessss.

5/5.30- dinner
6- bath
6.30- breastfeed/super sometimes if he doesn’t eat much at dinner- teeth after
6.50- into bedroom, lights off, white noise on, cuddle in the rocking chair untill drowsy and then into cot. He’s normally asleep within minutes. Recently he will go down totally awake but tbh I love the cuddles before bed and it works fine for us.

DS was self settling from 4-8 months when he got major separation anxiety about the cot and needed to go in drowsy. I just did what he needed. He was still waking in the night at that point. At 12 months he then started to be okay with going in awake. Nothing I did he just got there himself

How does your day look? In terms of naps.l etc. DS was much easier to settle when he dropped to mostly one nap?
