Waking for hours at a time

Hello,

My 11 month old has started waking for hours at a time in the night and it's
killing me. Last night it was for 4 hours.

He rubs his eyes yawns tries to sleep but can't and inevitably starts screaming and getting wound up.
If I leave him in his cot he just screams and screams but wiggles around on me. He refuses to be rocked as well. Eventually he will get tired enough that I can feed him to sleep or he starts staring while sitting on me and drifts off.

He doesn't self settle which I guess is the problem but I can't get him to do it and he just stands up and screams.

He naps 1.5 hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Annoyingly he did sleep through two night last week but it's now turned into this

We went through this phase. I'm going to follow with interest for if/when dc2 does it!

I couldn't find a solution, it was exhausting but the phase does end. I took it in turns with dh to get up, got as much daytime sleep as I could (not much but tried to prioritise it), watched Netflix on my phone and listened to podcasts. I kept everything quiet and dark in DD's room (have friends who got up to play but I didn't want to encourage this plus couldn't face it!).

Hope it passes soon. Cake for the meantime!
