HURRAH - My DD JUST SLEPT THROUGH FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

Oh I am so happy, I've had seven months of broken nights and she only made it to 4:30 but I'm doing a little happy dance. She used to wake every hour (until last week) and I shush patted her to extend it by ten minutes every day and suddenly SUCCESS.

Is it too early to drink champagne?

Well done that baby!

belgo · 23/05/2007 06:24

Well done you!

yogimum · 23/05/2007 06:25

people kept saying it gets better and it does though you never think that day will arrive. Never too early for champagne IMO

belgo · 23/05/2007 06:27

yogimum - sometimes it takes an awful lot of hard work and sleepless nights before they start to get better.

yogimum · 23/05/2007 07:03

I know! I feel I haven't had a good nights kip in ages. I was a nanny for twenty years but it never prepares you for when you have your own. DS has never been a great sleeper, is now 10 months and it is getting better.

belgo · 23/05/2007 07:06

yogimum - it's interesting you should say that about being a nanny not preparing you!

yogimum · 23/05/2007 07:11

Obviously I had all the training and experience but it never prepares you from the exhaustion you feel as a parent (and the worry)

LittleEgg · 23/05/2007 07:15

Congrats mini Aardfark (great name BTW). We had about six months of crappy crappy sleep from DS and the difference it made to my life when he started sleeping was amazing. Long may it continue for you (and me!).

aardfark · 23/05/2007 09:53

Why am I so knackered now though - for the first time I've had more than four hours uninterrupted kip and I'm bloody exhausted!

you are not used to it! the champagne should help you sleep . Well done!

PrettyCandles · 23/05/2007 22:08

Oh wow aardfark! Surely there's more to it than just that? Please please please tell a bit more about what you're doing. My 7mo still feeds 2-3-hourly during the night and is impossible to settle during the day.
