Newborn sleep during the day

DS is two weeks old and sleeps anywhere between 2 and 5 hours at a time. He's gaining weight well so not worried about him sleeping through feeds but just wondering if I should try and wake him during the day to try and get into a rhythm with feeds/sleeps, but I'm not really sure how to wake him anyway! If he's really sleepy changing him has no effect - he slept for 5 hours this afternoon. He usually has a chunk of time where he's awake for a few hours and I'm worried if he doesn't manage it today that's going to happen in the middle of the night!

Personally as long as they're gaining weight well and no issues, I would leave to sleep. At 2 weeks old you've got no hope of a routine of sorts. All they do is sleep, poo and feed at this age

more to the point, he has NO idea of night and day yet so there is little you can to that won't mean he's awake for a chunk of the night.

Start making day light and bright and night dark and quiet and it'll gradually get the circadian rhythm sorted
