Bedtime / time of last nap

Hi all, just looking for some advice; I have a 10 month old DS. He has never been the greatest of sleepers but we are getting to the point where we have some good weeks now.

Just wondering what other people do in terms of bedtime? Do your DC have a set bedtime which you always stick to, or does it depend when their last nap was?

I am currently putting him to bed around 3.5 to 4 hours after he wakes from his second nap (he has dropped down to two naps but neither of them are very long usually. Occasionally he will have 1 x 40 minutes in the morning and 1 x 1hr 20 minutes in the afternoon, but more often than not it's just 2 x 40 minutes).

For his naps he is either breastfed to sleep, in the pram, in the sling, rocked in arms or in the car. He will not go down in his cot during the day.

In the evening he is breastfed to sleep and then held until he starts wriggling, then he goes down in his cot. Good nights we have 2-3 wake ups; if I haven't gone to bed myself yet then I do not feed him back to sleep but I do go in to reassure him. Usually he is asleep again within 10 minutes at this point.

Any further wake ups, I do go in to feed him back to sleep and generally this doesn't take very long so I am happy to do it! He usually then goes back down in his cot (although I am bracing myself for this to change again in the future!)

90% of the time he wakes for the day between 6 and 6.30am regardless of what time he went to bed - this could have been as early as 6pm or as late as 8pm depending on that second nap.

Interested to hear other people's experiences :)

He's set bedtime. Tea is 5.30pm, upstairs for bath at 6.30pm, then cuddles when getting dry, story, milk, lights off quick cuddle to say night night and in cot at 7 to 7.15.

At 10 months I wouldn't have wanted him asleep past 4, 3.30 is better.

I found a routine really helpful, we knew where we were at for the day then. Took some work to establish.

My youngest is 10mo. I go with nap times as he can be a bit erratic with them.

Yesterday was awake at 4.30am nap 7.15-8.15 (have to wake for school run) nap 11.30-12.30, bed at 5pm. He’s the same wakes 4.30-5 even if he goes to bed at 7.30-8.

In an ideal world his last nap wouldn’t finish until 2.30 (in time for school run again), and down at 6. But he’s a law unto himself...
