When did your baby drop to one nap per day?

I've got a 15 month old DS and he is refusing to sleep in the morning.

He's routinely done a morning and an afternoon nap each day - usually for 45-60 minutes.

He's now refusing to sleep in the morning but is super cranky and still only sleeps for 45-60 in the afternoon. He's then a nightmare in the evening.

He sleeps consistently through the night, so it's not all bad. Smile The minimal sleeping in the day just means he's tired and whiney all day.

My DD was always a terrible napper. She dropped to one nap at about 8 months! It was so ridiculously early that I didn't dare confess to anyone. It was her afternoon nap that she dropped though - I spent weeks and weeks rocking her and nursing her and settling her every single afternoon and she just stayed awake. She would get upset, I felt like a failure, and it got super stressful for both of us, so in the end I just called time and stopped trying. We were both happier after that. She dropped her other nap really early too.

10 minutes after I posted this he went to sleep! 😳 only for 20 minutes so not really long enough, but he's not so grumpy now.

DS has started to slowly drop to just 1 nap from about 9 months. It really depends what his sleep was like night before and what he is up to during the day if he sleeps more. At child minder's and with us he only has 1 nap but with his grandmother he sometimes has 3 or 4 naps!

DD moved to 1 nap at around 14 months...it took a few weeks for her to get used to it.

She now naps 1130-130 and bed at 630.

my daughter dropped the morning nap at 11 months.... took her a few weeks to adapt, but she was refusing to sleep when put down in the morning, so was definitely the right time. she now sleeps better at lunch time too.

I suppose as he's nearly 16 months he's around the right age to drop a nap. I guess I'll just have to get used to doing a slightly earlier lunch in the hop of him sleeping before I do the school run.

I don't remember it being this difficult with my last one (admittedly he's nearly 10yo and my memory is hazy....!) Wink

Baby 1 was about 4 months
Baby 2 was 18 months
Baby 3 was 6 months
Baby 2 was ideal - I loved the day time naps. It's so hard when they don't sleep in the day
