Almost 8 mo and still 30min naps. Very tired baby

Any suggestions. I've tried 2 hour AT. 3 hour AT. Everything. Hes just very tired in the day now. Sleeps OK at night but the last stretch to bed is hard as he hasnt slept enough in the day.

I did try sitting in the room and shushing at 30min but that seemed to wake him more!

Anyone have tips to lengthen the naps for him?

You really seem to over think sleep
Just stop and enjoy your baby

Ds1 extended his nap only once he was down to one at 13 months. He would only nap in his buggy so I would rock him when he woke, after a few weeks of this he naturally started getting himself back to sleep.

Ds2 did it at 6 months but that coincided with sleep training and napping in his cot.

Ds2 also sleeps on his tummy and I do think that helps. Could you try this? If you put him down on his tummy will he just flip over?

You may be doing this already but when he wakes after a short nap I would wait 10 mins before going in to get him. He may well start falling back to sleep after a little while of this. Also don't feed him for 10 mins after getting him out of his cot, so he's not linking waking with feeding. Sorry if you're doing all this already.

Short naps are the pits - I feel your pain!

Ugh absolutely feel your pain. I'm really struggling at the mo and my 6m old won't self settle for naps either so it's a constant battle. I can rock her back to sleep after 30 mins but won't let me put her down, or if I can will wake 10 mins later! Gonna try holding for 15mins as someone suggested see if that helps.

It's hard to just accept its normal when they are clearly tired!

Does your lo wake up crying?

Jellybabie3 · 06/06/2018 09:20

Yeah he does. Hes started refusing naps altogether. Yesterday he wouldnt nap after midday until bed Shock. This morning nap he self settled and woke 5min later. Think it must be the regression thing here so I doubt theres much I can do until it passes. Goodluck to you!

And I've even tried the forbidden feed to sleep lol so anything other than bopping him on the head (thats a joke) isnt working. Hes definately trying to crawl so i think its just all got him worked up. Fx it passes soon. Going on holiday next week Confused

Learning new skills is a sleep disaster

WilliamLilliam · 06/06/2018 15:51

You may find once his more mobile his naps will get easier as he will be burning more energy

Jellybabie3 · 06/06/2018 20:35

Yep it is..all the signs are here. So this thread is less 4x 30min naps and more 1 x 30min nap all day lol. Hes had 20min all day. And he point blank is refusing to go down in the night without the boob plus back to feeding every 1.5-2 hours in the day. Nothing to do but ride it out. No point me trying to get back to norm with a holiday next week as everything would go to crap any way (he wont sleep in travel cot anymore and I have given up trying). So feed to sleep and readress hopefully when things calm down when back. He may well be crawling by then so fx that's a turning point.

Wondering @Jellybabie3 did these naps ever lengthen? I hope so for you!
