Sleep gone to pot

My daughter will be there in July and up until she was sick ten days ago we could put her in her cot at night and for about 8 months we never heard a peep. Since her sickness (d and v bug) she will only fall asleep with me sitting on a chair in the room. I have managed to move the chair further away each night and I am now sitting in the doorway but she wakes in the night screaming as I’m not there and I was when she fell asleep. Last night she ended in with us which I do not want to do, but I would say it’s the third time since she has been sick so obviously it is becoming a habit. I settled her at 10 last night in her cot again and at 12 she was up standing in her cot and I couldn’t resettle her, it would have been a case of just walking back out and leaving her which I’m not sure is right to do. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you.
