Good morning :)

I was looking for some advice or tips to help with my little ones naps.

Sorry I pressed send before I finished...

My little man has just turned 4months, he’s been sleeping through the night for the past 2 months. He normally falls asleep around 9pm and wakes between 6.00-6.30! His awake time is about 1hr 20mins, and he goes off for a nap easily in his room (blinds drawn and white noise) but recently every single nap only lasts 30 minutes! I leave him in his cot for 10-15minutes after he wakes to try and get himself back to sleep, that doesn’t work, I then go in and try to help him back to sleep but he’s wide awake smiling! I have tried putting him down earlier and later but that doesn’t change his nap length! He’s a happy boy through the day and his short naps doesn’t affect his night sleep! Is there any tips you could suggest to help lengthen his naps or should I leave it be and accept that he doesn’t want/need long naps during the day.
Thank you :)

Sounds awful! Especially with such an early start! I think they do often start doing this around this age. Can you extend the time before he goes for his first nap? Although because he is getting up so early he probably needs it.

I have honestly tried to put him down at every time frame, from 1 hour to 2 hours. I ended up putting him down earlier this morning at 1hour 10 because he was yawning and getting grouchy but still...only 30 minutes! I don’t feel like it’s my timing, I’m just having trouble getting him to go back to sleep! They say the average amount a baby needs at this age is 14 hours! He’s doing between 12.30-13 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions/tips with helping him get back to sleep?

If he’s waking up happy he may not need any extra sleep. If DD wakes prematurely from a nap she pulls a face and cries.

He’s sleeping really well at night if he’s sleeping through from 9pm to 6.00am. Count yourself lucky!

DD only has 12 hrs sleep on average in a 24 hr period and I can’t make her sleep any more than that.

You could try switching on the white noise when he stirs to see if that resettles him but if he’s happy overall he may not need that much sleep. Some babies just need less than average.
