EP, Blog looks GREAT. I'd definately like to be involved. I feel quite proud as SIFTW was my suggestion for a name on the thread in December that brought me, Cruise and JustJam together. The original sleepless club. They've now abandoned ship but sleeplessness still goes on in the Ginger household. (It now seems worthwhile too in an odd way)

I'm away for a few days so don't have the time to look too hard but I think we should definately have some success and failure stories. Perhaps Kiskedee (sp) can do something about co-sleeping too if we put in a call for her on the message board.

gingerninja · 27/06/2007 09:44

PS I'm in Chelmsford, Essex so Ally Pally isn't a million miles away either. I thought Tam was in NI tho or am I imagining that? We could of course go to hers for a holiday if that's the case

tibsy · 27/06/2007 09:58

morning all!!!

EP, the blog looks fantastic!! i havent had a chance to look through properly, as dd wanting my attention, imagine! will have a proper look later and see if i have any suggestions
also glad that the co sleeping working for you

i'm in, and for the meet up, although will have a bit further to go than you girlies,..... not as far as tam tho

our night ok, stayed in her own bed (managed to cuddle her back to sleep at 10.30pm) until 1.30am when she came in for a feed. dp came up to bed then and asked if i'd kick her out so we could have a cuddle. poor dd!! she woke again at 5.30am for a feed, but went back to sleep, thank goodness! til alarm woke us at 7am

am escaping the house today to bf support group. feel like i've been locked in for days

catch you all later

Amberjee · 27/06/2007 10:09

have fun at the bf group tibs.

our night was alright, feeds at 11.30 and 4, then awake at 7 (but i stayed in bed until 8.30 - thanks dh!)

MegBusset · 27/06/2007 10:13

Morning. Crap night for us - I got about 1 hour's sleep until DS woke at 1ish and flatly refused to go back to sleep, even after feed. We finally brought him into bed with us at 3ish and he wasn't too bad for the rest of the night but I feel knackered. Hope there were some better nights out there.

MegBusset · 27/06/2007 10:16

Also Ally Pally meet-up sounds good to me, I'm in Enfield so not too far away!

And happy to help with blog however i can

magnolia1 · 27/06/2007 10:18

Awful night here again, up 4 times before 1am and then every hour or so. In the end we came downstairs to the travel cot.
I did put him in my bed (without me) this morning at 6.30am so I could sort the other kids out and he slept till 8.30. Maybe my bed is more comfy?? Dh thinks his cot mattress is too hard??

bagsundereyes · 27/06/2007 10:20

Hi all,
Amber and Tibs for your ok nights.
EP for your restedness.
Tam for your LO last night. That sobbing/snuffling thing really tugs on the heart strings.

Might I gatecrash the meet-up. I'm in deepest, darkest South London (so if you meet near Ally Pally it'll probably only take me a bit longer than Tam to get there ).

LO has been napping for an unprecedented 1hr 20mins. I have had my shoes on ready to go to the park for an hour. Wonder how this will affect the rest of the day....?

bagsundereyes · 27/06/2007 10:44

x post meg and magnolia.
sorry for your crap nights. sounds awful.
hoping for a better day for you both.

Tamdin · 27/06/2007 10:53

sorry for being a total thicko but where is ally pally?
i am in NI ginger so if there's a meet up i'd have to fly over!!
Have a very good friend in london or could treat myself to a hotel for the night!

MegBusset · 27/06/2007 11:55

Ally Pally = Alexandra Palace, once home of the BBC, now housing an ice rink, some ducks, a pub and a very nice view.

EffiePerine · 27/06/2007 12:02

Central London might be easier? Not sure where - will have a think

Magnolia: could it be smell as well as the comfy mattress? You could try putting a blanket under the cot sheet - this helped us when DS was a small baby. You could also try wearing a muslin in your bra for a day and then sticking it in the cot so your DS can smell you (and your milk) might be worth a try? Sounds like a bad night - hope it starts to improve soon,

Oops DS just woken up

tibsy · 27/06/2007 12:45

hi all, so sorry, forgot to extend a welcome to magnolia in my last post glad to have you with us, although not through lack of sleep iyswim!

tam, would be better for me to get a hotel too, we could make a weekend of it!!

magnolia, re. the mattress thing, dd found it hard to adjust from her moses basket where she was sleeping on a folded up quilt, very cosy and nest like, to her cot, with a firm mattress. its very difficult to know what to do for the best. along the lines of wearing a muslin in bra, i tried squirting some of my perfume onto a piece of fleece and placing it into her cot. couldnt really tell if it worked or not tho as sometimes she slept, others she didnt.

tibsy · 27/06/2007 12:47

meg for your crap night

bags for lo's nap, woo hoo!!!!

tibsy · 27/06/2007 12:53

tam, have just read through your post, poor lo and poor you hope hes feeling brighter today
i hate the bottom lip thing myself, you know, when it juts out bacause theyre about to start crying. gets me every time

magnolia1 · 27/06/2007 13:30

I do the muslin thing but haven't tried a blanket underneath although we used to with the moses basket so maybe thats it??

Blimey I just wish it were that simple, will try it tonight.

Sympathy for those who's nights are similar to ours xxxx

Ds1 now has impetigo on his chin so more reason not to sleep as it looks really sore. Antibiotics from doctors so I hope it's short lived. The other kids are baanned from touching him lol

Tapster · 27/06/2007 13:54

Goodish night for us back to only 2 wakings 11pm she seemed hungry, up for only 15mins but 2am (her fav time) not hungry wanted to play nearly took her an hour to go back to sleep. Can't believe my first period has just arrived - so night feedings don't work then. Lack of sleep plus period not a great combination.

Now thinking when I can face having another baby and how close together I should have them. No point waiting until DD is sleeping through I think, anyway I have to pee all the time the first 12 weeks and the last 12 weeks so ideal for nightwakings!

magnolia1 · 27/06/2007 14:03

Lol Tapster, sounds good enough reason for the next one

tibsy · 27/06/2007 16:17

tapster on return of periods. i've had a couple since weaning dd. bloody awful isnt it?! this one was flaming early too not fair!!!!!
anyway, am trying to understand your idea of not waiting for another til lo sleeping thru but am not buying it!!!!!!
i just want some sleep

Amberjee · 27/06/2007 17:26

i don't think we meant ally pally as the meet up place - just commented that meg lived near there...

anyway, think central london would be easier as well. we could consider what tube lines people are close to and see where is easiest to converge. it would be great to have a picnic or something in the summer, but hard to meet up in a park, esp when you don't know what people look like! will also have a think.

Amberjee · 27/06/2007 17:30

taps, in our course yesterday the tutor said that in order for bf to be an effective contraception you need to feed every 20 minutes, LOL.

also had a laugh at your co-ordinating night wakings with toilet stops - what a good idea!

Amberjee · 27/06/2007 17:32

bless my LO, he is asleep in the sling and eating in his sleep, has been doing this for about 1/2 an hour. its actually quite nice because he's usually so matter of fact about feeding and gets it over and done with and onto the nexzt thing. so its enjoyable to have a lingering feed. he wouldn't go to sleep at his usual 3pm, and then fell asleep at 5 while eating in the sling. so guess i'll have to make his bedtime a bit later. he was so cute this afternoon though, not cranky tired at all. at one point we were in a shop. and he kept laughing. at nothing. so funny. i do wonder what goes on in their heads sometimes.

Tamdin · 27/06/2007 20:07

have moved ds's bed time back by 30 mins and it has made such a difference this week. previously went to bed at 7 now it's 7.30 and he's been asleep witin 5 minutes without a fight
now if only he'd stay asleep!
hope everyone has a good night

Amberjee · 28/06/2007 06:33

helloeveryone, hopefully everyone else has a good lie in. we had a good night 1 wakeup at 1.30 - but an early start at 5.50am [sigh]. can't have everything!

tibsy · 28/06/2007 06:55

morning amber!!!! dd woke at 5.15am so am up, dressed and ready to start the day whilst dd is waning already and wanting a nap
knew we were in for a bad night when she woke hourly after going to bed at 7pm but her teeth had been bothering her, so was expecting it. took myself off to bed with her and read for a little while as she slept next to me. was quite nice actually and despite numerous wakings pre 1.30am, dont feel too bad as had an early night
yey for your night amber sounds fab x

hope there were some other gudduns out there
