I know tibs and slim. one 'phase' after another!! am starting to think ds might be my one and only!!
am also missing my pre baby life although i reckon it's a grass is greener scenario. Am trying to get out more and do more things to keep my mind stimulated. am tempted to try and get tickets for joseph in london. have heard the musical's quite boring actually but i loved the tv show and it would be a change to go to the theatre. Dh might not be mega keen but he'll go if i make him!

tibsy · 11/06/2007 17:00

either that tam, or its a 12 year gap like mine
i agree re. the grass is greener, i love it most of the time, just the odd day here and there. have resolved to get more involved in groups and courses available. there are some nice people out there and some great opportunities
joseph sounds like a good idea, and am sure your dh would love it when he got there

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 17:01

so glad you added the wink at the end there! he won't but he does love me so he'll go because I want to!

tibsy · 11/06/2007 17:03

thought i should, as i know that it would be my dps idea of a nightmare

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 17:05

ditto!!

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 17:06

maybe you could come with me and they could go to the pub

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 17:09

..........actually maybe we could all just got to the pub!

tibsy · 11/06/2007 17:55

pub, i second that motion!

gingerninja · 11/06/2007 20:49

Tibsy, my lo is doing exactly the same with food. I turn my back for a second and she's lobbed the plate onto the floor. It's quite heart breaking isn't it? She has however, started to get very interested in a spoon and if I load one up she stuffs it in and has even started to look for the (inevitable) applause before she's done it . That seems to keep her interested for longer but boy it's messy.

Sleep was crappy last night but I'd given her a chickpea and pumpkin curry for tea and I think she had bad gas .

Anyway, lets see what tonight brings. We went swimming this morning and she slept for an hour and half on her own this afternoon.

I tried the pull off thingy too but gave up because it never worked for me. Still, she can put it in herself now and it really does give me sanity when my nerves can't take any more. For those worried about bad habbits; don't. It's really not worth it and in a couple of months you'll wonder why you were ever bothered by it. If it gives you both satisfaction then what's the problem. I know I tortured myself about it for a while and dedicated quite a lot of energy to worrying about it. It's a great relief when you come to terms with it.

Didn't see Joseph but I'll definately join you in the pub after. Now if it was Dirty Dancing (complete with Patrick Swayze obviously)

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 21:39

ginger couldn't agree more on the obsessing over 'bad' habits thing. both my mum and mil frequently say...'darling honestly he'll be at school before you know it and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about. enjoy him!'
...to which i normally reply 'i know but blah blah blah'
You'd think i'd just lighten up!!
wishing you a peaceful night

bagsundereyes · 12/06/2007 08:28

Morning all,

Hope good nights were had by all.

Rubbish night here. DD did not settle til 10.30pm then up at 2.30, 5 for aaaaages, and 6.30 for the day. I quit.

Bright spot on the horizon - my first ever dishwasher is being delivered on Friday. Figured if I can't get dd to sleep a bit more, I'll at least minimise the other stuff I need to do!

MegBusset · 12/06/2007 08:43

Bags for your night.

DS has awful eczema flare-up but did sleep 8-12.30, 1-5, then 6-8 in our bed. Poor little fella can't stop scratching. Have given up stressing about dummy use, I think he needs it to take his mind off the itching.

dressedupnowheretogo · 12/06/2007 08:44

hi ya all well she is consisitently going down earlier about 7 730 so thats good

but she still wakes at 11 ish

last night was 9-11 30 11 45-300 then not sure as she came into our bed as i ell asleep feeding

but she woke for the day at quarter to seven so not all bad

not letting her sleep after 4 pm now and feeding her at 5 every night

still not much improvement she's 10 montyhs now

MegBusset · 12/06/2007 08:44

Oh and the house we are in the process of buying has a built-in dishwasher.

Tamdin · 12/06/2007 08:45

morning all. pretty good night here. bed at 8 (in cot) and stayed in cot until 5.30 then came in with us and we all slept until 7.30
bags sorry for oyur rubbish night remind me again what age your lo is?

Slim · 12/06/2007 08:46

Gah - another bad night here. Took ages to settle after each waking - esp bad at about 3am (why is this the worst time?).

Anyway, am NOT stressing about it. Planning to do the NCSS thing about noting the pattern every 10 days after making a change. Big change this time has been naps (still successful) so we'll see where we are in about a week.

Hope everyone else had a better night... and a big hug to Bagsundereyes (and at the dishwasher!)

bagsundereyes · 12/06/2007 08:54

meg and slim
Hurrah - tam and booby - glad to hear that improvements are being made.

Sometimes I wonder if there's a finite amount of baby sleep to be shared amongst our LOs, given that we seem to have to take it in turns to get a decent night.

I've just booked an appointment with a cranial osteopath for tomorrow - not expecting miracles, but at least I'll be able to say we've tried, esp. as LO was ventousec delivery. Does anyone else have experience of this?

Slim · 12/06/2007 09:05

Bags: DS had a cranial osteo treatment last week. He does seem to be a bit calmer, but not sure there have been any definite results. I'm giving it a try for a few sessions anyway.

Amberjee · 12/06/2007 09:49

for all the bad nights - seems like a lot.

we had a good night! i gave LO dream feed at 9pm, then he slept until 2am , another feed, slept until 5.45, another feed, then 7.30. ah bliss.

Ilovebuttons · 12/06/2007 09:51

hello, I'm sorry to crash your thread, but I'm having a terrible time with my 5 month olds sleep and wanted to ask the experts! I've decided to invest in a dummy - do you think I've left it to late to try one, and what type would you recommend? I've been trying different 'gentle' techniques to get him to sleep but am having no luck - I've got to the stage of tearfully begging 'pleeeaaase go to sleep' and feeding him every hour to shut him up. I'm waiting to get my copy of ncss back off a friend, then I will try it again, just would really like a bit of a crutch to fall back on.

Tamdin · 12/06/2007 10:07

welcome ILB but sorry you find yourself here. My ds has a dummy and it's a god send for us but everyone feels differently about them. i use the avent ones because they're easy to find and if your lo does decide he'd like a dummy you usually find they get 'addicted' to a certain brand so make sure it's an accesible one that isn't likely to be discontinued (this happened to me hence the warning!)

Tapster · 12/06/2007 10:30

We have been away on holiday DD now 7 months sleeping 7-8 hour stretches, even had a couple of 11.30 til 6.30s. It has coincided with her eating more solids, dinner is often pasta or something with mashed potatoes. She is only being BF once a night now, not sure when/how to get rid of this feed. We have been doing GR/GW but she keeps falling asleep on my lap straight after BF so have been cheating - seems to strangely sleep better. Still not able to put her to sleep awake - not sure I have the heart to hear her crying so much. Her sleeping well has also coincided with sleeping more regularly during the day - usually two 1.5hour naps, can't believe it, she used to never sleep more than 45mins. I do think food has alot to do with it for her.

We have never used a dummy - I personally wouldn't introduce one ILB - just another rod that you will have to wean off.

Ilovebuttons · 12/06/2007 10:43

I always said I'd never use one but I'm at my wits end, I just feel like trying anything in case it helps. Tapster, your situation now sounds amazing - only one night waking! Was your little one a very bad sleeper before? Mine was waking every 2 hours, feeding and being rocked back to sleep alternately, which was bad enough, but the last 2 nights he's woken roughly once an hour. I am desperate!

MegBusset · 12/06/2007 10:50

ILB, I also said I'd never use a dummy. But then, I said I'd never have an epidural... until I'd been in back labour for 42 hours

In the end, I reasoned that as I had to bf him to sleep, using a dummy was no worse. Plus it seems unfair to deny him the comfort when his eczema is so bad.

tibsy · 12/06/2007 10:55

aloha ladies and welcome ILB
