Slim

Well, DS also had two naps in his cot today, though only 30 mins each... mind you, he spontaneously had a 1.5hr lunchtime nap in his pram, so maybe one day he will go longer in the cot.

Just gone to sleep in cot with minimal assistance (well, maybe a bit of jiggling ) so we'll see what tonight holds. It is blardy hot so hope that won't disturb him too much.

bagsundereyes · 10/06/2007 08:48

Morning everyone

Hope good nights were had all round

Meg and Slim - congrats on the progress with regards to naps. I do hope the "sleep begets sleep" theory proved correct last night.

Average night. LO upset til 8.30 last night, then slept til one, (DH tells me!) and up at 5.30. Didn;t really go back, but cooed and chewed on the dummy til 7.30.

after a week of staying in we are still on micronaps am and pm, but i think it's been worth trying, so that I know I'm not being unfair by taking her out too much. I think we might have another bash in a month or so.

MegBusset · 10/06/2007 10:31

So-so night for us. Down at 8, slept til 12.30 but then up at 2.30, 4.30 and decided to be properly awake at 6.

This is far too indecent for a Sunday so he came and cooed and wriggled in bed between me and DH while we dozed for another hour.

Amberjee · 10/06/2007 11:39

we had a 6am sunday as well

Tamdin · 10/06/2007 13:12

afternoon all. we had a 'good' night's sleep but that involved ds sleeping horizontally across the top of our bed like a cat! Honestly if anyone had seen the stae of the 3 of us last night they'd have laughed. think we're slowly turning intot some sort of hippie commune
In his defence though he was teething very badly last night so we gave him some medi sed about 10ish and he slept until 7 this morning! now if only it had been in his cot then that would have been a result!

Tamdin · 10/06/2007 13:12

state

Slim · 10/06/2007 20:20

DS woke up at 5 . He did get a 3 hr stretch in at on point so am not complaining too much. Am also finding that he's settling in the evenings much better, perhaps because he's used to sleeping in the cot during the day? Anyway, hoping for more improvements tonight...

Hope everyone has been enjoying the weather. We've been spending lots of time in the park. DS has also been feeding far more than usual, so he must be thirsty.

Slim · 10/06/2007 20:21

LOL at your DS Tamdin: I suspect that DS's master plan is to eject us from the bed altogether

Tamdin · 10/06/2007 20:23

yay for the 3 hour stretch slim. The settling better is probably due to the cot naps. Ds goes down in cot at nigt ok it's just keeping him there that's the problem atm!
keep meaning to ask why the name change? just fancy it or did you get drunk and tell someone like i did!

MegBusset · 10/06/2007 22:16

Evening settling is much easier here too now he's in the big cot (and napping there too 1/2 times a day). Although he doesn't half complain when I do the 'Pantley Pull-Off' with the dummy before he goes to sleep - tonight it must have taken a dozen times for him to go to sleep without it.

Night settling is a bit trickier than when I was BFing him to sleep, takes longer but I'm hoping will pay dividends in the end.

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 08:22

morning all. Not a great night here. ds unsettled at bed time. slept until 1 and then couldn't go back to sleep. tried to keep him in his cot but after 30 mins gave in and brought him in with us. he lay beside me with his eyes wide open for so long that i fell asleep first. anyway don't feel too bad as he slept in so prob still got 6 hours solid sleep. another gorgeous day here

Amberjee · 11/06/2007 09:07

morning everyone. feel a bit tired today. LO woke at 11, 2, 4 and 6 (up) hence destroying any chance of a solid stretch for me. sigh. naps were rubbish yesterday even though we stayed home most of the day, he just couldn't stay asleep.

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 09:14

amber just one of those crappy days. doesn't mean today won't be good. try to stay positive. (easier said than done i know!)

bagsundereyes · 11/06/2007 09:15

Morning all.

Amber and Tamdin - sounds grim. Fingers crossed for a better day today.

LO settled at 7.30. I got a bit of a break as DH got up at 11, and 3. I got up at 4.30 after a good stretch, and LO then slept 5-7.

Meg - what is the Pantley Pull-off? LO is addicted to her dummy, and cannot ever get to sleep without it. Understandably I'm concerned about this, and would be keen to learn how to undo my bad work!

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 09:25

bags incase meg isn't back for a while it's from The No cry sleep solution book written by elizabeth pantley and is when you remove the dummy/bottle/breast when their sucking slows and then hold them gently under the chin. it's to stop them relying on sucking to sleep. haven't actually tried it as ds can put his own dummy back in and is actually a god send in this house

bagsundereyes · 11/06/2007 09:30

Now if LO could reinsert her own dummy.....guess there's only another 5-6 months to wait! I don't have dummy shame (much to my sisters' consternation!) but am keen to reduce her overdependence on it for sleep.

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 09:42

Ncss is a good book and very gentle. might be wortha read if you can borrow it from library or i got my (used) from amazon for £5 x

Slim · 11/06/2007 10:57

Wouls also recommend NCSS

Anotehr unsettled night last night - hope this cold goes soon! Settling for naps still OK, tho DH is on duty today so not sure if still working. I'm holding to my feeling that Things Are Getting Better even if night-time sleep is still bad. DS seems a lot happier in himself. May be the naps, may be the cranial osteo (had 1st appointment this week), who knows?

Tamdin: no drunken confessions, just felt like a change (and it's easier to type )

MegBusset · 11/06/2007 12:28

Morning all. Better night for us - bed at 8, awake at 11 (but resettled without feed), fed at 1 and 5 then slept til 7.15.

Bags, as Tamdin said, the idea of the PPO is to get them almost asleep with boob, bottle or dummy but then to whip out before they fall asleep. This may wake them so you replace dummy etc and keep repeating til they finally give in and conk out.

Mind you, I gave in and left dummy in at 11 and 1...

tibsy · 11/06/2007 14:52

afternoon ladies and bubbas,
for those who've had crappo nights. i just feel permanently knackered atm even if i have had a good night
amber just wanted to say what gorgeous piccies
i dont know how to add photos, anyone help with that?
nothing to do with sleep i'm afraid, but does anyone haev any ideas how to deal with a bubba spitting food everywhere. i dont think its cos shes not hungry as when ds here to distract her, she eats as good as gold. was quite cute at first, now its starting to chuff me off, have tried ignoring it, saying no and removing food til later time, shes doing it with finger foods too, unless its something she shouldnt really be having, like a biscuit, grrrr!!!! guess i should post on weaning too
anyway, hope you're all enjoying the sunshine. i finished my first aid course today, i'm certificated and everything!!!!!!

tibsy · 11/06/2007 14:53

oh and meg, for your good night

Tamdin · 11/06/2007 16:47

LOL tibs. ds did that for a while too. youghurt was the best one! did all of what you describe. said no, ignored, laughed (couldn't stop myself) tbh not sure how it stopped just did one day. only went on for about a month and not every meal time. x

Slim · 11/06/2007 16:50

Tibsy: no ideas, sorry. Well done on your first aid certificate . I've got a course coming up in August. Think it is a Very Good Thing - not enough people know basic first aid.

tibsy · 11/06/2007 16:52

oh god, another 'phase' !!!! cant remember ds doing it yoghurt, yes...... a very messy food, i'm getting covered most meal times i look almost as grubby as dd

tibsy · 11/06/2007 16:56

thanks slim, and yes, it was really informative. the instructor covered mostly paediatric first aid but also general. when dd had a choking moment the other day at m & t group, i didnt panic, just dealt with. did scare me tho, but i was a lot calmer, knowing what to do. good luck with yours in august
