i try to stay home until 2pm to get in 2 naps, at least 4 days a weeek. that's my 'rule' at the moment ...

Tamdin · 05/06/2007 18:38

sounds like a good idea amber

taking 5 to reboot. LO slept 3.45-5. Bath 5.30, feed 6.15. Soothing since 6.30. And nothing...she has now broken past the heavy lidded stage and is wide eyed. She's chewing her hands, and I've dashed out to brew up and use the loo. There'll be screaming before 9 if I'm not wrong.

Wishing you all a good night. Talk tomorrow x

Amberjee · 05/06/2007 20:39

hmmm, my MN is playing up, can't see the messages on this thread!

gingerninja · 05/06/2007 21:26

Slim, ooohh sounds very intelletual. I had to get my brain out of hybernation for an interview today. Not sure it's working properly!!

I've had an idea ladies. Why don't we set up a business. As sleep consultants seriously, we must be able to do something between us.

Tamdin · 05/06/2007 21:36

there's gotta be a book in there somwhere ginger! get your thinking cap on

bagsundereyes · 06/06/2007 07:31

great idea Ginger - you'll make a fortune.

Morning all - hope the gods of sleep smiled on you last night.

LO ended up sleeping my bed in my arms until 10.30, as I didn't have the stamina to deal with the crying. Bad mummy.

DH arrived home at 10.30 and fed her, then got her down in the bed. 2x overnight wake-ups, then up at 6.15. No worse than usual overnight, but I really missed my 9-10pm nap.

Slim · 06/06/2007 08:38

Not sure anyone would employ me as a sleep consultant! Maybe a book on our experiences of living through sleep deprivation . DS waking every 1.5 hours again lasgt night until Medisedded at about 1, then woke at 3:30 and 5:30 so I got a little bit of sleep.

gingerninja · 06/06/2007 08:52

Bags, your lo is still so young, don't worry about having to hold them occasionally to get some sleep. It won't become a habit. We had another goodish night which convinces me that there really is something up when it goes pear shaped. anyway wiggly baby so must go

bagsundereyes · 06/06/2007 08:54

Slim - what's going on??

Glad to hear yours was ok Ginger. Thanks for moral support.

Slim · 06/06/2007 09:04

Cold - DS keeping coughing or snorting and waking up. Olbas oil and raising head of cot doesn't help.

What has helped with settling is putting him to sleep on his side - think it's safe when they can roll easily? Anyway, stops him thrashing about and yelling a couple of minutes after falling asleep.

wrote long postthen lost it aaaaaaggggggggh
anyway ... our night was mixed

bed at 7 (30 mins to setle)
awake at 11 (bottle but then hard to settle)
awake at 4 (into bed with us)
awake at 7 (for day)

Not too bad when i see it written down but not great for a very active toddler!

Bags ds also slept in my arms when he was small so you're not alone. infact i think most mother's do it and lie!
plus now he won't let me anywhere near him for a cuddle or kiss (unless very sleepy) so enjoy your special time together

Slim glad you eventually got some sleep
Ginger for your better nights

Amberjee · 06/06/2007 09:07

ginger, one problem, we're not exactly good advertisements for getting LOs to sleep!

Slim · 06/06/2007 09:08

I hink more of a 'we feel your pain' book

Amberjee · 06/06/2007 09:08

bags, we used to hold LO most nights from midnight onwards when he was young. they do get better at sleeping on their own for some stretches anyway...

MegBusset · 06/06/2007 10:18

Morning all. for those with OK nights.

Still no sign of my good little sleeper from two weeks ago. Bed at 8, awake 11.30, 2, 4, refused to resettle so in bed with us from 5 and slept til 8.30 (well, at least there was a decent stretch at the end of the night). He did have his jabs yesterday so maybe that didn't help.

I know there are worse sleepers out there, but going back to those 2hr wake-ups is a killer, esp. when snoring DH makes it even harder to go back to sleep!

bagsundereyes · 06/06/2007 10:38

hi meg - sending you double espresso and sleepy vibes.

i can't imagine how hard it must be when you think you have a pattern, then the lo throws a spanner in the works. hopefully it's just a blip....

Slim · 06/06/2007 16:06

Meg, I found the jabs threw DS off for a while as well.

Saw cranial osteopath today, she was v good and though DS was starting to teethe again (which would explain a lot). Not sure if the treatment worked but he ate a huge lunch afterwards (he;s been picky about his food for a few days). Will see what tonight brings...

BTW have got round to updating profile and have added some pics

MegBusset · 06/06/2007 16:17

Lovely pics, Slim! Whereabouts in London are you?

Every cloud has a silver lining... LO is currently having second 1hr+ nap of the day, after an hour this morning and 30 mins at lunch... this is TOTALLY unheard of unless cuddled by me

tibsy · 06/06/2007 16:24

afternoon all!!
slim, what a gorgeous wee man!!! and i love the idea for the 'we feel your pain' book ... oh and i worried about dd falling asleep on her tummy/side when she first started, but its fine when they can roll i think. dd changes her positions loads of times now

bags, i constantly slept with lo in my arms when she was little. no harm in it at all if it means you get some rest

ginger - hope the interview goes/went well

meg - hope you get a better night tonight my lovely

amber - glad los rash seems to be getting better

tam - glad you had a good night

we had a good night, bed at 8, fed at 12.45, again at 6.15am, up for day at 7.30am

and she slept for 2 1/2 hours this afternoon! had been awake from 7.30 til 1.30pm tho

lets hope the nice weather has put los in the mood to be kind to us and give us all good nights!

Amberjee · 06/06/2007 17:54

hello everyone. love your pics swizz, errmmm, i mean slim!!
we went swimming today, was so much fun. LO was so tired afterwards,, slept loads albeit in the sling.
also got to help someone with breastfeeding this afternoon, so feel virtuous

tibsy · 06/06/2007 18:54

go amber go glad you were able to put your course into practise. did the situation arise naturally or did you have to do it as part of the course?.....cant wait to start it myself, they havent given a definite start date yet, just sometime this month.
