Hi,
My 7.5 month old is consistently only taking 30 min naps most days and I wondered if anyone has any pearls of wisdom.
First night time. She goes to bed at 6pm after bath, bottle and story then is put down awake and goes to sleep within a few minutes, sometimes with a little fussing but generally not. She wakes between 5.30 and 6pm with 2 quick wake ups for milk in the night usually at around midnight and again at about 4. We weaned off breastfeeding a couple of weeks ago but she still rarely takes more than 3.5oz in one feed which I think is why we still have the night wakings. Anyway I give her a bottle and then she is put straight down awake again and goes back to sleep so not too disruptive. It's day times that are just rubbish. She is in day care full time as well so I feel a bit stuck as to how we can work together to extend her naps. Their sleeping environment is quite noisy and bright and they usually put her down as soon as she seems sleepy rather than any set times which I am happy with when she's taking such rubbish naps. A few times they have swaddled her which has led to much longer sleeps, up to 2.5 hours but this isn't done consistently so most days are 2 or 3 30 min naps plus she often falls asleep on the way home in the car. Naps at home are also 30 minutes now regardless of white noise, darkness etc. I have tried swaddling her too but she seems to just fight her way out (which probably means I don't do it properly). She never liked a dummy but will take one now for naps and it does help her go to sleep. It's the staying asleep I just can't figure out. Any tips?? She is just so much happier after a longer nap.
